TEMPE (AZFamily) — Around 1,200 businesses and homes were damaged or destroyed when a microburst slammed Tempe one month ago, according to new city data released Monday.
City officials say the Oct. 10 storm damaged 1,001 households and destroyed 144 others. The microburst also damaged 83 businesses and destroyed 58 more.
The powerful storm tore roofs off buildings and knocked down trees onto homes and businesses across the city. No injuries or deaths were reported.
City crews have collected about 1,500 tons of trees and other foliage since the storm. About 500 trees were downed in Tempe parks, with hundreds more falling in rights-of-way.
Several organizations have stepped up recovery efforts. The American Red Cross served 6,000 meals to storm victims, while Team Rubicon assist
