Hours after a blast from a Hyundai i20 killed eight people and left over a dozen injured at Red Fort, police are questioning a Gurgaon resident under whose name the car was registered, sources said.

The man is learnt to have told investigators that he had sold the vehicle to someone else, and police are working with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to ascertain the current owner. Investigators say they are probing whether the car changed hands more than once – first, from the Gurgaon resident to a man in Okhla, and then from him to a resident of Ambala.

According to sources, after ascertaining the vehicle number, investigators ran it against their database, and it was found that the car was last spotted on Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras in Southeast Delhi ’s Badar
