When the Giants began searching for a new manager, president of baseball operations Buster Posey told reporters that he did not plan on bringing back Bruce Bochy for a second term. Still, Posey made it clear that the “the door is always open here for some sort of role.”
The Giants announced on Monday morning that they have hired Bochy, a future Hall of Famer who won three World Series titles in San Francisco, as a special adviser to baseball operations.
“I couldn’t be more excited to reconnect with the Giants organization and so many familiar faces,” Bochy said in a press release. “This organization and city mean a lot to me and my family, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute in any way I can.”
