The Giants are no longer delaying the inevitable.
Brian Daboll, after a tumultuous three-plus seasons in New York, is out as the franchise’s head coach.
The Giants fired Daboll on Monday following a collapse Sunday in Chicago in which the Giants blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter for the third time this season. The team is now 2-8 for the third straight season.
But what might ultimately have been the final straw was that Jaxson Dart, the prized first-round rookie quarterback, left the game with a concussion after the third quarter and did not return. It was the third time that Dart has been evaluated for a concussion in seven starts, but the first time that he was unable to return.
“Unfortunate he got hurt,” Daboll insisted after the game.
