An early morning explosion rocked a Virginia community and left one person dead Monday, according to fire officials.

Just before 8 a.m. on Nov. 10, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue units from Moorefield were called to the 21000 block of Green Stable Square in Ashburn for reports of an explosion, officials said.

Multiple 911 callers reported heavy smoke in the area and a possible fire in nearby woods, according to Loudoun County Fire and Rescue.

When crews arrived, they found a fire in an outdoor maintenance area. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and discovered a person dead inside, authorities said.

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident. The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the victim’s cause and manner of death.
