PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek has signed House Bill 3991 to help maintain the state's roads and halt layoffs of essential transportation workers.
In a letter dated Nov. 7, Kotek said that she was grateful to everyone who came together to make this bill happen and to keep the state's roads safe.
"I am grateful to the legislature for stepping up to keep our state moving, alongside a broad coalition of cities, counties, workers, truckers, businesses, and the AAA," Kotek said.
House Bill 3991 fills a $300 million gap, which will prevent 500 people from losing their jobs, which Kotek's letter said would have hindered the Oregon Department of Transportation's ability to clear road incidents, plow snow in the winter, respond to emergencies and keep state highways safe and ope
