Michigan joined 17 other states in honoring women veterans with a special license plate, which was revealed at an event in Dearborn on Monday, Nov. 10.
The event, which took place at the Henry Ford Centennial Library , located at 16301 Michigan Ave., also honored several women veterans from southeast Michigan, in addition to revealing the new plate.
The room, filled with community members in coats, elected officials in suits and veterans in military garb, buzzed with excitement before the license plate was revealed.
"It is only fitting that we honor them with just not words, but with meaningful gestures," said Sen. Sylvia Santana, who introduced bipartisan Senate Bill 788 to the Michigan Legislature in 2024.
