CHICAGO — The first snow of the season arrived Monday, giving much of the Chicago area a fairly measurable accumalation.

Lake County and Kankakee counties in Illinois, along with several cities in Northwest Indiana, are among some of the hardest hit areas.

As of noon Monday, the latest snow totals are: • Momence: 12" • Cedar Lake: 11.3" • Crown Point: 11" • Kenosha: 10.5" • Lowell: 10" • Winthrop Harbor: 10" • Waukegan 9.5" • Valparaiso: 8" • O'Hare: 1"

Due to lake effect snow showers in Northwest Indiana, some of these totals are likely to grow an additional one to three inches by the end of today.
