Macleans magazine just released its latest “Rich List” featuring Canada’s 40 wealthiest people, and Murray Edwards secured the 36th spot on the list, with a net worth of around $5.4 billion.
The magazine gets its numbers from information in the public domain and insider information from things like trading reports and SEC filings.
Edwards is listed under the magazine’s “natural resources” category.
In late 2024, he led Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) through a deal to acquire Chevron Canada’s Alberta oil assets. The deal was around US$6.5 billion, and helped solidify CNRL as one of the world’s leading oil and gas producers, including acquiring 70 per cent of the Duvernay shale formation, which produces around 40,000 barrels of oil and gas per day, and upping CNRL’s share in
