Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Darius Slay made an early exit due to a concussion during Sunday night's 25-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at Inglewood, Calif.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after the game that Slay is in concussion protocol and added, "We'll see where that leads us this week."

Slay was injured when he banged heads with teammate Kyle Dugger while making a tackle on Chargers running back Kimani Vidal in the second quarter. Slay was walked off the field by trainers with 11:36 left in the quarter.

The 34-year-old Slay was initially termed questionable to return before being ruled out at the outset of the third quarter.

Pittsburgh (5-4) hosts the Cincinnati Bengals (3-6) next Sunday, while the Chargers (7-3) visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (5-4).
