ROCKFORD (WREX) — A couple of local cross country teams brought home state championships over the weekend. The Winnebago girls won the 1-A state title, while the Dixon boys took home the 2-A state championship.
Winnebago finished with a score of 150, with all five of their scorers finishing in the top 50. They finished sixty points ahead of second place Shelbyville. Dixon notched a score of 115, 28 points ahead of second place Mahomet-Seymour.
Molly Webb was Winnebago's highest finisher, taking 14th place individually. Dixon's Dean Geiger also finished 14th for the Dukes as their highest finisher.
Belvidere North's Judah Binger finished 11th in 2-A. In 1-A boys, Rockford Christian's Evan White finished 7th, helping lead the Royal Lions to third place as a team, while Byron's Tim Starwal
