The library was started in 1951 through the efforts of Jeanne Minhinnick and Ann Farwell — former Toronto residents who operated a sheep ranch in South Bay. They personally donated 200 books, plus collected another 750 books from friends in Toronto — a great start to a library that would continue to serve the community for many years to come.
