FAA has issued delay for departing flights, all non-scheduled flights to stop

Phoenix Sky Harbort International Airport is dealing with hundreds of delays and dozens of canceled flights on Monday.

Two orders are in effect from the Federal Aviation Administration on Monday: a ground delay averaging 64 minutes for all departing flights to the contiguous United States, and an “airport closure,” which stops all non-scheduled flights into and out of Phoenix Sky Harbor, such as private jets.

The orders come on the 40th day of the federal government shutdown, which has disrupted airports across the country as they struggle to staff TSA agents and air traffic controllers, in particular, who have been working without pay during the shutdown.
