Former standout Waverly-Shell Rock athlete Doug Benschoter will be inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Football Hall of Fame during the state football championship games on Friday, November 21 at the UNI-Dome. The IHSAA announced Benschoter as a part of their 2025 induction class on November 7.

Waverly-Shell Rock Athletic Director Greg Bodensteiner presented Benschoter with the honor in a surprise organized by friends and family at the Prairie Links Golf Course in Waverly on September 24. Benschoter talked about how it felt to be recognized for his achievements during his time in a Go-Hawk uniform.
