CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A Charleston County judge sentenced a man to 40 years in prison after he was convicted of murdering his girlfriend and attempting to murder a North Charleston police officer in 2021.
Judge Deadra Jefferson sentenced David Beaufort following his convictions for murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Trial testimony revealed that the victim and Beaufort had recorded a video that ended on Dec. 16, 2021, and at 2:26 a.m., the victim called 911, stating that Beaufort was overdosing.
The call ended at 2:29 a.m. when Beaufort asked the victim to call his mother. First responders arrived at the incident location at 2:35 a.m.
