KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A former Mizzou star is headed to the Kansas City Royals via a trade.
On Monday, the Royals announced a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, acquiring 27-year-old Kameron Misner in a deal that will send either a player to be named later or cash considerations back.
Misner, a Poplar Bluff, Missouri, native, starred at Mizzou after opting for college instead of signing with the Royals when Kansas City drafted him in 2016. He was selected in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins and made his MLB debut with the Rays in 2024.
Last week, Tampa Bay designated him for assignment after he played in 71 games and hit .213 during the 2025 season. He made 57 starts, 42 of which came in center field.
In 2024, Misner was the MVP of the Rays’ Triple-A affiliate
