GRAMBLING, La. (KNOE) - Nearly 30 athletes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference were suspended after a halftime brawl on Nov. 8.

A brawl broke out during the Grambling vs. Bethune-Cookman football game. The SWAC had suspended 18 GSU athletes and nine Bethune-Cookman athletes.

Most of those athletes are suspended for one game, but three of them are suspended for two “due to the severity of their actions,” the SWAC said.

GSU also received $40,000 fine, and Bethune-Cookman a $25,000 fine.

Grambling released a statement on Facebook, writing, in part, that the fight does not represent the university’s values.
