A Pontiac man died after his vehicle slid on a patch of ice on M-59 and was struck by a pickup Monday morning in Pontiac in a crash involving seven vehicles, law enforcement officials said.
Speed was also a factor in the fatal collision, which happened around 6 a.m. on eastbound M-59, near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard said in a press release.
The sheriff said a 34-year-old Pontiac man was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo east on M-59 when he hit an icy patch, veered off the roadway and struck a cable barrier.
The Aveo bounced off the barrier, tipped onto its side and slid into the middle lane of M-59, where it was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150, authorities said. The driver of the Aveo was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identi
