More than 2,000 flight cancellations as government shutdown continues

WASHINGTON — For a second day in a row, flight cancellations in the U.S. reached past 2,000 as the FAA-mandated air traffic cuts continued to plague travel for Americans amid the longest government shutdown in history .

On Monday, a total of 2,110 flights were canceled and over 6,800 flights were delayed, according to tracker FlightAware.

Airlines continued to announce flight cancellations on day four of the flight restrictions, even as a government shutdown deal emerged late Sunday .
