The San Francisco 49ers had a disappointing 42-26 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, dropping to 6-4 and falling 1.5 games back in the NFC West.

It was an ugly game from the start, as Los Angeles quickly got out to a 21-0 run, doing whatever they wanted offensively and forcing a key Jauan Jennings fumble defensively.

San Francisco’s defense had no answers for the Rams offense all afternoon long, showing the holes that injuries have created up front.

With the loss, there are certainly questions about the 49ers’ ceiling in a competitive NFC with the current state of the defense. Are they still true contenders after the embarrassing defeat? Tight end George Kittle thinks so.
