JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - Mississippi is feeling the chill already, but even colder temperatures are on the way.

Homeowners are encouraged to wrap exposed pipes, cover outdoor faucets and keep faucets dripping to prevent freezing overnight.

"We want people to start thinking about that first freeze, that first cold weather and how it could impact so many aspects of your life. Now's the time to make sure that you've done your due diligence," said Scott Simmons, Chief Communication Officer for the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).

Stores have been stocking up with supplies like faucet protectors and pipe wraps to help residents prepare for the cold.
