ALTOONA, Iowa —
At 100 years old, Charles Kellogg is still as sharp as he was in the 1940s — back when he served as a paratrooper in World War II.
“Hit all the countries. France and Germany and Belgium and Luxembourg,” Charlie recalled of his time overseas.
He remembers the heavy moments, too. “It’s kind of hard when you lose guys in the Army. And I did, I lost quite a few.”
That’s why spending time with his friend Dennis Young means so much.
“Nice to have somebody around that knows what they're doing. And, we get along good,” Kellogg said with a smile.
Young feels the same way. “Any time we can do something for Charlie to make his life a little easier, we're here.”
