LANDOVER, MD – Eight games is not enough time to evaluate a coach. Dan Campbell can attest to that from personal experience.
Campbell started 0-8 as Detroit Lions coach in 2021, and if public sentiment ruled the day, he might not have stuck around for Game No. 9.
But eight games was a big enough sample size for Campbell to realize something was wrong with the Lions offense, and stripping John Morton of play-calling duties after a sluggish start ‒ whether the move is permanent or temporary, as Campbell suggested might be the case Monday, Nov. 10 ‒ speaks to the urgency Campbell and the Lions have to reach the Super Bowl.
