PECULIAR, Mo. (KCTV) - Police in Peculiar are asking residents to lock up after armed thieves targeted eight homes in one night, hitting only unlocked vehicles and open garages.
Security cameras captured the suspects, with at least one carrying a pistol while acting as a lookout during the thefts that occurred last Thursday in a neighborhood near I-49.
“The firearm is a new element that we’ve not seen,” said Peculiar Police Chief Don Shepard.
Video footage shows one suspect patrolling in front of a family home while armed with a pistol. The incident has left neighbors shaken and taking extra precautions.
“My wife and I, as soon as we heard that there was a gun involved, that they were armed, that made us extra nervous,” said Aaron Stock, who lives near where one of the videos was taken
