BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Norton Children’s Healthcare is offering guidance to parents on how to discuss emotionally challenging events with children following last week’s plane accident in Louisville.

Major events can be difficult to explain to children in ways they can understand, according to healthcare experts.

“I’m a huge fan of Mr. Rogers and so I love Mr. Rogers quotes, but Mr. Rogers said anything that is human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable is manageable. So, allowing kids to talk about how they feel, regardless of how closely impacted they were, is going to help that kid process what they’re going through,” said Clint Nowicke, a psychologist with Norton Children’s.
