New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (5) warms up during an NFL Week 10 game between the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025.

Garrett Wilson returned to the field in Week 10 after missing the New York Jets' previous two games with a knee injury. His return to action proved to be short-lived.

Wilson aggravated the injury that previously kept him out of the lineup in the third quarter of the Nov. 9 contest against the Cleveland Browns. He was seen walking gingerly off the field after attempting to make a catch and was spotted riding a training bike on New York's sideline on the team's first drive of the fourth quarter.

Wilson did not return to the game and ended up playing just 19 total snaps. He didn't log a single reception on three targets, and it may be a while before Jets fans get to see him make another catch.

Here's what to know about Wilson's timeline to return from his latest injury.

How long is Garrett Wilson out?

Wilson is expected to miss 3-4 weeks after suffering a knee sprain, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. He is not expected to need surgery to fix the ailment.

The Jets have not clarified whether that timeline for Wilson's return is accurate. Coach Aaron Glenn said the team was "still evaluating" the Ohio State product at a media availability Nov. 10.

"We go through that whole process as far as imaging and getting checked out by the docs before we really stamp what the issue is," Glenn told reporters. "Hopefully he'll be good to play this week, but I don't wanna stamp that just yet."

Garrett Wilson injury update

Wilson suffered his injury in the second half of the Jets' Week 10 win over the Browns. Justin Fields overthrew a pass to the 2023 first-round pick and he went sliding to the ground after the play.

Upon getting up, Wilson gingerly walked to the sideline, where he was tended to by New York's training staff. He was seen riding a training bike at the beginning of the fourth quarter and his return was originally deemed "questionable."

However, the Jets eventually ruled Wilson "out" before the end of regulation.

Jets WR depth chart

The Jets have six healthy receivers on their 53-man roster with Wilson sidelined. Below is a look at the projected pecking order within the unit:

  1. Arian Smith
  2. Tyler Johnson
  3. Isaiah Williams
  4. John Metchie III
  5. Adonai Mitchell
  6. Allen Lazard

Smith figures to operate as New York's top receiver with Wilson sidelined. The fourth-round rookie ranks second among the team's receivers in offensive snaps this season (310) but has generated just six catches for 47 yards this season.

Johnson has been the most productive of the Jets' healthy receivers, generating 10 catches for 187 yards and a touchdown across eight games. His 16 targets are the third-most on the team among wide-outs behind only Wilson (59) and the also-injured Josh Reynolds (21).

Mitchell is likely the biggest wild-card of the unit. The 2024 second-round pick was inactive in Week 10 after being acquired as part of the Sauce Gardner trade but could be granted a chance to show his worth down the stretch of the season. Mitchell has posted 32 catches and 464 yards across 25 career games.
