WEST DES MOINES, Iowa —

Lucas Loftin has been selected by the Polk County Republicans of Iowa as the Republican nominee for Senate District 16, which includes parts of Clive, West Des Moines, and Windsor Heights.

The seat was previously held by the late Iowa Senator Claire Celsi .

Loftin will compete against Democratic challenger Renee Hardman in a special election set for Dec. 30.
