The Klamath Tribes are preparing for a potential food crisis caused by the federal government shutdown suspending SNAP benefits, according to a community announcement.
Klamath Tribes are declaring a Tribal Emergency. This move will allow them to mobilize funds and support members during the crisis, the Klamath Tribes said.
The tribes plan to allocate additional funds to various programs and departments to tackle urgent food insecurity. They also will form an ad hoc committee to respond to emerging needs.
For citizens outside Klamath County, resources are available by calling 211 to find nearby food banks and assistance.
