The theme of the inaugural Black Mountain Film Festival might simply have been this: You belong here.

That wasn’t just the name of a docuseries focusing on food and culture in Kentucky that had its Pulaski-set episode screened to a packed house at The Virginia Theater on Friday night, but also an invitation to the film industry to come see what Kentucky — particularly the Lake Cumberland region — has to offer.
