WAUSAU − ENT & Allergy Associates is urging the community to support a Girl Scouts initiative aimed at enhancing fire safety for hard-of-hearing students in the Wausau area.
The medical group has donated $2,000 to the project led by Elise, 15, and Aeryn Wetzsteon, 14, according to a community announcement. Both Aeryn and her younger sister, Paige, are impacted by hearing loss.
The teens' Girl Scout Silver Award project focuses on providing SafeAwake Bed Shaker alarms to 26 hard-of-hearing students in the Wausau School District. These devices are designed to alert individuals to fire alarms while they sleep, a critical need as many do not use hearing aids at night.
Community support is crucial
"We are thrilled to support the girls' initiative," said Dr. Emily Lohr, an audiologist at ENT
