KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen police have moved one step closer to solving a string of armed robberies following a recent arrest.

According to police, a man was arrested on Friday, Nov. 7, while officers were patrolling near Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

Police said officers attempted to speak with the man before he decided to run away. He was eventually caught and arrested for evading arrest and unlicensed carrying of a weapon.

During their investigation into the man, police learned he was also being charged for three counts of aggravated robbery with a firearm after being connected to robberies on Oct. 26, Oct. 30 and Nov. 7. The man, later identified as 29-year-old Mark Anthony Santiago, was placed in Bell County jail on Saturday, Nov. 8 with a total bond of $320,000 for the five charges.
