SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) say they have been able to prevent the spread of various aquatic invasive species by inspecting thousands of boats since the beginning of the year.
DWR, Utah Division of Natural Resources (DNR) and several of their partners say they examined 288,554 boats since January 1. They investigated those boats to ensure that they are not spreading quagga mussels and other aquatic invasive species from infested reservoirs to other waterbodies in Utah.
In 2025, DNR also conducted 6,509 decontaminations of boats to remove invasive species, utilizing dip tanks at the Stateline Ramp and Bullfrog Marinas at Lake Powell, Utah Lake State Park, Sand Hollow State Park and Willard Bay State Park
