SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Officials with Zion National Park (ZNP) are urging park visitors to remain safe, especially when canyoneering.

In a social media post released today, ZNP officials announced that they responded to an injury inside the park on October 20. An individual fell approximately 12 feet in Behunin Canyon while canyoneering and was seriously injured.

Fortunately, teams with the Zion Search and Rescue and a Utah Highway Patrol helicopter were able to quickly respond, stabilize the individual, and fly him to Zion Lodge, where he received further medical treatment.
