ROUND ROCK, Texas — Two survivors of the 2024 Juneteenth mass shooting at Old Settlers Park have filed a civil lawsuit seeking more than $1 million in damages against the church that organized the celebration, as well as two men accused in the attack.
The suit, filed in Travis County, names One Way Baptist Church, Keshawn Dixon and Ricky Thompson III as defendants, alleging negligence and gross negligence that led to the tragedy.
The lawsuit claims that One Way Baptist Church, a nonprofit that organized the Round Rock Juneteenth Rhythm & Ribs Festival, failed to provide basic safety and security for the thousands who attended the free public event.
