A man will have waited almost 12 months for his chance to fight multiple drug charges in Tamworth Local Court.

Joshua Degioannis, 40, has appeared briefly by video link in Tamworth court, represented by Legal Aid solicitor, Theo Georgiadis, who asked Magistrate Mark Whelan to set down a date for the drug and drug-related offences to be heard in court.

Degioannis has pleaded not guilty to charges of being deemed to be supplying a prohibited drug in an indictable and commercial quantity; possessing a prohibited drug; and goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen.

When Mr Whelan asked Degioannis if he wanted to appear in person, he eagerly replied: "Yes, yes."

The Magistrate listed the hearing, which is expected to take up to three hours in Tamworth Local Court, for March 2026.
