After the loss of his son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren in a helicopter crash in Montana around two weeks ago, former state senator and state representative Darren Bailey alongside his wife Cindy announced in a video that they plan to stay in the race for Illinois Governor in 2026.
Bailey announced a campaign run for Governor in September, after running against Gov. JB Pritzker in 2022.
In a video statement, the Baileys expressed their appreciation for “your prayers, your messages, and your love” after two hard weeks for the family.
Cindy Bailey noted that their grandson Finn, who was not in the helicopter, is “surrounded by love from our family and from Kelsey’s family.”
