COLUMBIA, S.C. — With Finlay Park’s grand reopening just days away, the City of Columbia is tightening security measures.
Over the weekend, construction crews discovered spray paint vandalism inside the park early Sunday morning. Columbia Police Chief Holbrook said the image was some type of artwork and not a gang sign. He said overnight security began Sunday, Nov 9. and will continue through the week leading up to the grand opening on Nov. 15.
The city is also implementing a new clear bag policy starting Thursday. City Manager Teresa Wilson said the change is part of ongoing efforts to create a safe and family-friendly environment.
