The Australian Merino Production Trial recorded "fantastic" results in its first measurement of intramuscular fat, said convenor Craig Wilson, Redgum River Pastoral, Wagga Wagga.

Measured alongside carcase weight, fat score, dressing percentage, total weight gain, wrinkle and staple length, lambs scanned an average of 5.5 per cent IMF.
