ST. PAUL — A repeat drug offender has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in federal prison after an arrest last year.

Byron Terrell Robinson, 44, of Duluth, pleaded guilty in May to a count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.

A news release indicates Robinson was stopped by police while driving on Interstate 35 from Minneapolis to Duluth on July 23, 2024. Investigators had already been watching Robinson and had reportedly observed him selling drugs in Duluth.

The Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force obtained a search warrant for Robinson, his vehicle and his Duluth apartment. In the car, they reportedly found approximately 220 grams of fentanyl and approximately 2,168 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside a speaker.
