DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Confusion continues in Minnesota after SNAP benefits were restored on Friday only to be ordered pulled back by the USDA on Saturday .
Despite the reversal, Minnesota’s Department of Children, Youth and Families says it has no mechanism to reclaim the funds.
Local nonprofit leaders and community organizers say uncertainty remains, and while the SNAP freeze might be over, food insecurity persists in the Twin Ports community. Chum leaders say rising costs and delayed SNAP funding have made this holiday season uncertain for many wondering how they’ll put turkey on the table.
“Providing a Thanksgiving box is so important for the families, particularly this year because it’s a scary situation. You want to be able to have a meal for your family,” said Chum
