WASHINGTON, USA — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are investigating a botulism outbreak that was linked to ByHeart's powdered infant formula.
DOH says 13 infants in 10 states are a part of the outbreak, one of which is from Lewis County in Washington. All cases in the outbreak reported that they consumed ByHeart brand formula.
ByHeart has voluntarily recalled the powdered formula. DOH says the symptoms of infant botulism might take several weeks to develop, so parents should remain vigilant if they used the recalled lots of infant formula.
