AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Palo Duro Dons have won the outright District 2-5A Division II title for the first time since 2004 and qualified for the playoffs.
To claim the title, the Dons defeated Abilene Cooper at Dick Bivins Stadium last week, marking the first time Palo Duro had ever beaten the Cougars. The Dons won by 24 points, scoring 31 of their 52 points in the second half.
With the victory, Palo Duro finished the regular season 9-1, with their only loss coming in the season opener against Tascosa.
