New Delhi: The International Olympic Committee insists not to have decided on introducing a blanket ban on transgender athletes from female categories across all sports.

Reports suggest the IOC is mulling on a complete ban on athletes born male after a scientific review concluded that transgender athletes enjoy physical superiority even taking steps to reduce testosterone levels.

IOC members were apprised of the initial findings of the review last week by its medical and scientific director Dr Jane Thornton.

Scientific evidence has shown that anyone who experiences puberty as a male has permanent advantages over females and they cannot be totally eradicated by hormone treatment, the former world rowing champion told IOC members through a presentation.
