TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — With three more committee weeks left to go, Florida lawmakers are reviving a handful of priorities that didn't make the cut last legislative session.
Immigration reform, property taxes, rural investments, and government efficiency are all once again at the forefront for house and senate leaders.
Senate President Ben Albritton (R-Wauchula) made it clear last session; funding rural areas was one of his top priorities. But as the house, senate, and the governor continued to clash over tax cuts, a rural renaissance plan was on the chopping block. "I want to be very clear to you and the rest of the world, I don't view it as a loss, I view it as an opportunity to go back next year and look at it and maybe even make it better," said Albritton during a media gaggle.
