INDIANAPOLIS — Construction to repair a damaged bridge will impact interstate traffic near downtown Indianapolis this week.
Starting at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, crews will close all but the left lane of Interstate 65 south from the north split to Fletcher Avenue to repair a railroad bridge that was struck last week. The ramp from East Washington Street to southbound I-65 will also close.
The lanes are expected to reopen at 12 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17.
According to INDOT, a truck hauling a dumpster struck the CSX railroad bridge over I-65 just south of Washington Street on Thursday, Nov. 6. INDOT bridge inspectors and CSX later determined the closures were needed to facilitate repairs.
During the closure, through traffic on I-65 southbound is encouraged to use Exit 111, while westbound
