TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) – Texarkana, Texas, is celebrating its City Hall's 100th anniversary. To mark that amazing milestone, the city is holding a birthday party for the historic building.
"This is the second City Hall at this location. The first one was built sometime in the 1880s, and then demolished in 1924 to build this building," says Matt Solomon, historic preservation officer for the city.
The guest list includes former mayors and pillars of the community.
Texarkana, TX, Mayor Bob Bruggeman said, "There's a local business in town called Logan Electric. They've been in business since 1909. They're located in downtown Texarkana."
"We've invited the Phelps, the owners of the business, because Logan Electric did the electrical wiring in this building when it was built in 1925.
