Sanju Samson Turns 31: Sanju Samson is a name in Indian cricket which truly deserves the adjective of talented as well as intriguing, a player whose early promise from Kerala has matured into consistent performances and growing leadership credentials. Born in Pulluvila, a coastal village near Vizhinjam in Kerala, Samson’s dream was seeded early.

His father, Samson Viswanath, was a former Delhi Police constable and footballer and his mother, Ligy, was a homemaker. When young Sanju failed to make the Delhi U‑13 team, his father retired from the force so the family could return to Kerala and focus on cricket.

As a teenager, Samson captained the Kerala U‑13 side, scoring nearly 1,000 runs in one tournament. He progressed through the U‑16 and U‑19 levels before emerging in domestic cricket.
