WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW)— A driver was caught traveling at 123 mph on the Kansas Turnpike, authorities say.
Kansas Highway Patrol Troop H said a trooper was patrolling north of Emporia when he spotted a white Toyota that was speeding. The photo shared by KHP shows that the trooper's radar clocked the driver at 123 mph.
The patrol said the driver told the trooper, “I knew I was going about 100 but didn’t know I was going that fast!”
The maximum speed limit on the Kansas Turnpike is 75 mph. Under Kansas law, the driver faces a fine of $375, plus court costs.
