EVERETT — A Snohomish City Council member will resign at the end of the year. The council has already started the selection process to fill her seat at the start of next year.
Maygen Hetherington announced her resignation at the end of a City Council meeting on Oct. 21.
“It’s been a real pleasure, truly, serving with all of you,” she said during the meeting. “I’m sorry I couldn’t continue in the way that I thought that I would.”
She provided a more detailed explanation in the city’s quarterly magazine .
“I carefully considered my effectiveness, my family priorities, and my personal capacity for service. The outcome was clear: stepping aside now is the best way for me to serve with integrity,” she wrote. “I had hoped this role would strengthen my ability to advocate for downtown and t
