The Fort Wayne Community Schools board agreed Monday to boost pay for various non-teaching staff by 2%.
These compensation changes – which affect bus drivers, nurses and others – came two weeks after the board ratified a two-year agreement with the teachers union.
Noah Smith, board vice president, thanked the district's legal counsel and his team for the legwork involved.
"On behalf of the rest of the board," he said, "we'd love to give more than 2% raises."
Four-year contracts with three unions – Teamsters Local 414, Fort Wayne Classified Association and Fort Wayne Nurses Association – were reopened to renegotiate compensation. The salaries and wages will increase by percentages consistent with increases for teachers.
